Write yourself into your favorite Christmas story at our one-of-a-kind celebration! A Storybook Christmas combines timeless traditions with new ideas, to create a unique experience that is fun for the whole family!
The festivities begin with Breakfast with Santa at The Hillsboro Moose Lodge #1377, or lace up your shoes for the Frosty 5K hosted by the Hillsboro Jr High School Volleyball team. At 10:00am the streets will come alive as carolers stroll the streets, and interactive characters are at home in scenes straight from a book! After breakfast, Santa will take a grand ride up Main Street on the horse drawn carriage, and will visit with festival goers throughout the day. This offers a great holiday photo opportunity! Orpheum Theatre will have two free showings of "A Christmas Story". Kids are challenged to complete a festive scavenger hunt. Free carriage rides will run from 10:00am-2:00pm. Various performers will showcase their talents on the Lincoln Plaza Stage all day. From 4:00-8:30 Greg Holcomb - Country Financial will be hosting A Very Country Christmas in the Hillsboro Moose Lodge. There are more fun surprises and activities around every corner, and in many local businesses.
A Storybook Christmas offers exclusive shopping opportunities, with local merchants peddling their handmade holiday wares. Main Street businesses and craft fair vendors will be open for holiday shopping. St Paul's Lutheran Church basement will host the annual Hillsboro Christmas Market, and there will be many specialty items for sale on the street. Enjoy traditional Holiday foods, like bratwurst, Christmas cookies, Gluhwein (mulled wine), and roasted chestnuts, as well as modern favorites, all served up by local businesses and clubs. There are lots of warm (and cold) drinks being served up too!
As the sun sets, the streets will be filled with friendly faces and the twinkling glow of Christmas lights marching down Main Street in the Lighted Parade. Then gather 'round the stage for a musical performance. Help us welcome the Christmas season by joining your family, friends, and neighbors to countdown as we light the town tree for the first time of the season.
