Acting Out Theatre Company was born on December 13, 2010. Our team of founders wanted to pursue our dream of producing environmental summer stock theatre. We produced Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods in the woods at Perry Farm in the Summer of 2011. It was a great success and we have produced a variety of summer shows since then. We also have worked with Bourbonnais Township Park District to produce the re-enactment portion of A Night in Sleepy Hollow each October since 2011.

The process of environmental theatre begins by choosing a show. We then identify elements of the show that guide us to a location to build our stage, keeping in mind both the magic of theatre and the logistics of a large-scale production. Our board members have expertise in areas including business, dance, artistic design, graphic arts, carpentry, music education and performance, accounting, and public relations. By pulling together our gifts and talents, and with team of incredible volunteers, we produce world-class environmental summer stock theatre.

We are fortunate to live in a county that values the arts and we have experienced incredible generosity from our community partners. We depend on a very supportive community to assist with the many tasks that are associated with a successful production including sponsorships, rehearsal space, and a place to build our stage. When you take a heap of homegrown talent, a wealth of community partnership, and a sprinkle of theatre magic, throw it all into the cauldron and give it a good stir you experience the magic that is unique to our region and uniquely Acting Out.
