Blue Sky Vineyards

Open: Year-Round

With the grapes planted and the winemaking underway, our family turned their sights toward the winery itself. Nancy Karen Brian, Chairman of the Department of Design at California State University, Fresno, designed the Tuscan inspired Blue Sky Winery. After years of dedication and attention to every detail we opened our doors to the world on July 4th, 2005. Ever since then, we have continually strived to create a place of great tranquility.

Blue Sky Vineyard was the NASA location of longest duration for the 2017 total eclipse of the sun. We traveled to attend the all day event, and it was well worth the trip. The wife of the General Manager greeted us at the entrance at 9:00 a.m. We purchased our commemorative wine glasses, and related special eye glasses. Great attention to detail was a part of the experience. The grounds were beautifully maintained, and we planted ourselves at a table with an umbrella, behind the DJ station, not far from the line-up of talented musicians. There was a food truck outside, and sit down service inside the winery. The special red wine had wonderful notes, and the atmosphere was ideal for near darkness, in the middle of the day. These friendly folks made us feel at home, and they threw a first rate party. The Vineyard made their lovely grounds available, free of charge, to anyone wishing to attend. It was a great time, and a memorable experience. Highly recommended.

We came here during a weekend trip to the Wine Trail. It was mid-afternoon on a Saturday, and the tasting area was very busy. When we did make it up to the bar, it took a VERY long time before our presence was even acknowledged. We're patient when we can see staff is overwhelmed, but it would've been nice if someone would've at least said "hello" (especially when you're standing right in front of them). The tasting itself was good- they have a large selection of wines to choose from. We walked around a bit; the grounds are expansive and very nice. Overall it was a positive experience.

We really liked this winery. The outdoor sitting area is huge and beautiful. The tables are each hand painted and the terracotta roof is impressive. The girl running it that day was super sweet and knowledgeable. The wines were delicious, as well as the sangria. The sangria is pretty sweet but it was good!

We came here to view the 2017 eclipse! It was great ! No charge for parking- friendly staff- a sangria station- live music- I appreciated the token wine glasses and extra bathrooms and availability to trek into air conditioning as it was very hot! There must have been Several thousand people but it felt like we were all friends! We met so many nice people ! Only bummer was they sold out of the special eclipse wine the day before ! I really enjoyed their red wines - coming from Ohio we have a lot of local wineries but they don't get the dry reds very good - these were perfect! We bought 3 bottles! Can't wait to come back !

I have visited the Shawnee wine trail twice now - first with my extended family, and most recently with my wife. We both agreed that this was our favorite out of the Shawnee wineries we've visited thus far. When you drive up the hill to the parking, to me, it looks just how I'd picture a winery if I had to describe one. Hills of grapes, beautiful landscaping, and a very tuscan-looking building. Both times we've gone, we've left with smiles, and a couple bottles to go. This most recent trip, even though the winery was absolutely packed due to a wedding, the staff was more than accommodating & pleasant to deal with. We grabbed a carafe of their red sangria (which is perfect for a hot summer day), and sat on the lawn under an umbrella and watched the pond. We capped the day off with a fabulous piece of chocolate cake from the kitchen - honestly, you have to try the chocolate cake - and a couple bottles of wine for the road. Any time we return to this area, we will most definitely stop by again. Preferences: My wife & I prefer sweet & semi-sweet wines, but other family members prefer drier wines, and we've all left happy.
