Mission

The Norwood Park Historical Society exists to be a leader in the community by:

- Preserving the oldest house in Chicago to serve as a community resource.
- Participating actively in community affairs in order to advocate for the preservation of the unique character of the Norwood Park community including its historic architecture, open spaces and streetscapes.
- Developing and maintaining a museum and historical archives related to Norwood Park including its national register district.
- Educating, informing and building awareness of the part each of us plays in the evolving history of our families, community, nation and world.
- Serving as a resource for those seeking historical information about the community, its people, homes, businesses and institutions, as well as offering guidance in issues of historical preservation and restoration.

Vision

The Norwood Park Historical Society is recognized as a leader, educator, advocate and resource within the community of Norwood Park. Norwood Park is a community that values and preserves its historic character and is acknowledged as an area of historical importance to the city of Chicago and the region.
