Pete Marquette State Park has wonderful trails to walk. They are approximately 6 miles from the quaint river town of Grafton where you can do a great zip line and check out the best view in the area at Aerie's Winery. Pere Marquette has the best fried chicken that can't be beat.
Great trail running close to St. Louis. 7 miles if you go with the the outside loop with a variety of woods and field to run through and 1300 feet in elevation gain. Several excellent vantage points of the Illinois River and St. Louis way in the distance. The visitors center had an informative natural history museum, park ranger and clean bathrooms.
We hike here in the Fall for family hikes. Trails are natural... some can be challenging. ie goat trail. Beautiful lookouts
Illinois' largest state park is a beautiful place to walk around- especially in the fall.
Awesome trails with a really cool lodge! Family style fried chicken is a great option for a big meal at the restaurant!
